Spring Break Palm Springs

Spring break. A time when stressed out college students go to let loose on the beaches of Mexico. Or, in our case, when a group of girls choose to venture to the most laid back sunshine filled place in the states: Palm Springs.

Monday:

We woke up to nearly 80 degree heat and chose to eat breakfast at our hotel motel and spend the morning at the pool. By nearly 11 am the heat was too much to handle so we chose to head into Downtown Palm Springs. Downtown is not much of a downtown at all but more so just the highest concentration of good restaurants in the area. There wasn't much in the way of shopping, however lunch was delicious. We walked about 3 miles up and down Palm Canyon drive and loved to see the vintage cars cruise past and take in the beauty of the art deco buildings surrounded by blooming desert flowers and cacti.

Tuesday:

After spending our first day walking around in nearly 100 degree heat we decided to take it easy and enjoy a fancy brunch at Spencer's (Highly Recommended). We walked around for a little while after before deciding to humor ourselves with a game of putt putt. We came back to our hotel around dusk and ordered Thai Takeout and enjoyed it by the pool.

Wednesday:

We got up at the crack of dawn to watch the sun rise and enjoy the cool morning air. We also made plans to go on a desert hike though palm canyon and wanted to get a head start before the sun was too high. The views were absolutely breathtaking and it was so different than any hike we have ever been on!

Hits:

- A hotel with pool- You'll need it

- Palm Canyon Hike - Leave early in the morning, bring plenty of water, and bring your camera

- Spencer's - This place was your dreamy Palm Spring patio brunch spot located in the historic tennis neighborhood

- Gatorade - Beat the heat and get those electrolytes

Misses

- Uber/Lyft - Great conversation but man did these people drive exceptionally slow and miss multiple turns

- Staying Far Away- Highly recommend staying in or near downtown palm springs so you can be centrally located

- Cheap Food- There are few to no cheap healthy food options, so if your budget is small get ready for diner food and takeout
