Prom and wedding season is upon us which means you gals are going all out to look your best. Lately, we here at Ramble have been contemplating getting eyelash extensions but found the price tag to be not so friendly to our wallets. Eyelashes make your eyes pop and falsies are the perfect way to get a cute cat eye or a dramatic look. Here is your step by step guide getting budget friendly fabulous lashes.

Here's what you'll need:

Eyelash Curler

Facial Hair Scissors

Tweezers

Duo Individual Lash Adhesive in black

Duo Striplash Adhesive in black

Ardell Knot Free Double Flare Individuals in both Medium and Short

Ardell Double Pack – Natural (101)

Kiss Five Pack - Shy

Everyone is different when it comes to eye shape, style and the methods they use to buy and apply their falsies. Here's the way I found works best for me.

GET THE PERFECT FIT

First, I begin buy opening the eyelash packet. With your tweezers GENTLY tug away from the out corners of the eyelash (where the band meet the plastic mold) and pull inward to release the eyelash from the mold.

Once the Eyelashes are off its important to measure the band against your actual eyelashes to see how much of the eyelash you need to trim off. In the picture above notice how the falsie sits directly above lashes. I place the lash in the inner corner of the eyelash and leave the excess hanging out of the far corner. Take notice that on the eyelash band there are four knot’s that are not needed and must be clipped off. Now some people don’t need to clip any knots and lashes will fit them straight out of the mold. If your like me and you have small eye them trim them is very much needed.

When you look up close to the band your notice the arrange groups of lashes, this is what I mean by “knots”. I normally have to cut 3-4 knots from the outer corner of the lash. Personally I cut from outer corners and not inner corners! Also be very careful when trimming your eyelash so you don’t over cut. When you cut the access part of the eyelash don’t toss it away!! Keep it!

CUTE CAT EYE

The reason you want to keep the piece you just trimmed off is because you can reuse it and glue it on top of the outer corners for a feline effect and to double up the ends. When it comes to gluing on pieces to the band using the individual adhesive is best because it works almost like a super glue. Once its in place and dried it doesn’t move.

Now this is my favorite part! It is important to refresh the glue after it’s too tacky to work with. I use a pointed tweezers and try to dip just the knot of the individual lash on the eyelash band. Be sure to spread out the individual lashes evenly. I just let the lash dry and then after a minute I pinch the lash to the band and continue letting it dry. Sometimes this step evolves a lot of precision and practice.

FULL GLAM

Now this technique is totally optional, I will use his look when I really want a dramatic 3D effect with out having to pay the price I just get a 5 pack of lashes and double them one. Once again it is important to measure and trim every pair you will use and cut off the excess. For this process I like using the individual lash glue because once again it is a stronger hold and secures the lash wont move. Once you get good with applying glue you can just use a needle and take straight from the bottle instead of using the foil to help transfer the glue. I’ll run the needle with the glue on the top of the band then follow by placing the second lash on top of the glued band. Once done they should have this almost 3D effect. Afterwards I would once again place the lash back into the mold for storage. I keep the excess pieces just in chase I want to use them on another pair of lashes.

APPLICATION

Now here is the part everyone has been waiting for (Drum roll please) APPLYING LASHES! Once the glue is applied lightly on the edge of the lash you want to leave the glue till you see a change in color from a light grey to dark grey (this is the reason I use black glue because I find it easier and because it matches eyeliner and lashes). Once the glue has changed colors it means it is now tacky so this is the best time to apply the lash.

When it comes to applying lashes everyone is different. Personally I find it best to pick up the lash with tweezers by the middle of the lash and placing them on the middle of my actual lash. Follow by pressing down on the lash and then moving towards the corners and then squeezing the corners to my actual lash. After fixing the lash and letting it dry I will reapply liquid eyeliner on top where my old eyeliner meets the band to cover dried glue and give it a polished look.

REMEMBER : Clean you lashes after because you can reuse them over and over !
